Temporary Restrictions for Iranian Visitor Visa Holders (Subclass 600)

From 26 March 2026, Australia has introduced temporary restrictions on Iranian visitor visa holders (Subclass 600), preventing visitors outside the country from entering, even if their visa has already been granted. The measure will remain in place for up to 6 months and aims to protect the integrity of Australia’s migration system. Exceptions apply to immediate family members of Australian citizens or permanent residents and individuals granted special permission, while Iranian nationals already in Australia are not affected.

Important Information:

  • Most Visitor Visa Holders (Subclass 600) from Iran cannot enter Australia

  • Iranian nationals already inside Australia are not affected by this rule

  • Family members of Australian Citizens, PR and approved exceptions can enter

  • Restriction is temporary but could be extended
